Yo Yo dieting

Scott Schwab
I am sure that you are now seeing on every magazine and popular website advertisements for diets. Unfortunately it is time to pay the piper. The time of year that everyone finally jumps on the scale or decides its diet time. The mere mention of the word gets some people all hot and bothered. Here are some facts that you should consider. When dieting it should not be something that you are not going to be dedicated to. The popular diets like southbeach, Adkins, no carb, no sugar, etc; work for some but not for others. People start great, but eventually you will return to normal living. So the equation is not what diet you should try, it should be the changing of your lifestyle. Changing your lifestyle requires you to change your eating habits in a healthy way. So rather than looking at the hundreds of diets that will flood the market the next couple of months, look at the way you can change and then work on your commitment. The great news is that you do not have to get a membership or go to a gym to have success. Our guest poster Mike Smead lost 30 pounds without having a consistent exercise routine. That should tell many of us that lifestyle alone can influence a lot. However, by including an exercise plan, you will have more energy, you will look better, and you will feel better. If you don't workout, start doing push-ups and sit-ups. Consistency is going to be the biggest difference. If you want to have success stick to something for at least 8 weeks and compare your differences. If you see something advertising that you can lose large amounts of weight with little effort stay away. Even if your best friends have just lost 10 pounds. The problem is not the short-term effects. It is the long-term effects of gaining back all of the weight, but more. It is the affects of having the extra weight and to add insult to injury, that you paid all sorts of money to get to where you were. I saw it with a person I knew that did the gastric bypass, and did not change the lifestyle and has now gained more weight then they originally had. Its all about the lifestyle change and being consistent with maintaining it. I recommend starting with a cleanse that will eliminate toxins and get your body shocked into a change. Slowly introduce a new style of living. Smaller meals 6 times per day and portion control. Also take your weight divide it by two and that is the amount of water you should drink per day. Finally, eliminate the consistency of eating fast food, tons of sugar, and soda. Doing those things alone will help you lose weight and get on track for consistent success. Remember that you can do anything that you put your mind too. I believe that people generally get exactly what they work for and are passionate about.
